When i read my earlier post, I think it fits even better with the theme of optimism: another trait that often eludes and confounds me!

Happiness is a much maligned emotion, usually by those who have no idea how to achieve it. If your idea of happiness are ephemerals such as material goods and wealth you will never achieve it as it will never be attained. I work in a research based, fact driven environment and people would say I was not always the sunniest of people there but it is not always appropriate to bounce about radiating bonhomie in the workplace. Away from there however never underestimate how much fun happiness can be. Too much analysis is no fun what so ever, just be and you will be happy! PS - as for the article trying to analyse happiness - sometimes scientists just need to get out in the fresh air a bit more!
